A couple in Weston had been feeling cramped with the family bath of their historic district home. They particularly longed for a luxurious bathroom with a stand-alone soaking tub and all the updated features and spaciousness that come with a master bath.
Traditional design elements honor the overall style of their historic district home, while the layout and chosen materials add a rich elegance that makes the bathroom feel modern and spacious.
The couple wanted their new master bath to be elegant, yet also soothing and comfortable. Features such as the stand-alone soaking tub that’s perfectly positioned under the existing windows and a large shower with customizable controls provide the cornerstones for relaxation.
The two-sided glass enclosure allows for a sunny shower and helps keep the space feel open.
The toilet is tucked away behind the shower, as to be out of the site lines of an open door.
Carefully chosen floor tile from Italy sets the stage for the tone of the bathroom design. The tile is a blend of porcelain and marble that has been laser cut, and shows off the homeowners’ personal style.
The rich stained wood cabinetry of the vanity makes the Italian tile pop, plus adds more warmth and depth than painted cabinets would. The single large mirror over the quartz countertop lends cohesiveness and beautifully plays up the ample light, both from the windows and from the overhead light fixtures.
For the final touches, details such as radiant heat and blinds that can be adjusted both to cover the window space from top to bottom or from bottom to top add a modern level of comfort.
With the new master suite and spacious, tasteful bathroom, the couple now feels as if their older home has a new lease on life.
