Maximizing Storage in a Small Bathroom

Storage in a Small Bathroom

One thing is certain when remodeling your bathroom:

              • You will need storage.
              • You want to control clutter.
              • And you want it to look beautiful.

Even if the space is small, there are ways to sneak in extra storage with style and without breaking the bank.

Walls aren't just for pictures!

Use your wall space effectively.  Shelving with baskets hides clutter and looks beautiful.  Don't forget to maximize the space above the toilet or any other unused niches.  This is a great place to store toilet paper or towels, while either hiding in baskets or enhancing your color theme.

What about some beautiful wall hooks?  The great thing about hooks is that you can hang them high or low and make a dramatic statement.   There are also several options for hanging baskets that can corral that mess while enhancing the look.

Don't forget to look up!  Shelving above the door might be perfect for extra linens and can look stylish while keeping you organized.

Open that door!

You are going to have doors so take advantage of the space on the inside of cupboard doors to store grooming supplies such as hairdryers and curling irons.

If you have a metal door, opt for magnetic organizers that can be changed with your storage needs.  Or attach a magnetic strip to the inside of your cabinet for tweezers, pins, and other metal objects.

Choose a mirror with an inset cabinet to store medicine or grooming items.  This takes advantage of the space between the wall studs and keeps the mirror flush with the wall.

If you have a family, attach cups or cubbies with each person's name on it to the back of the vanity door for storing essentials such as toothbrushes, hair ties, or styling products so the products are easy to find and have their own "home."

Give it a Twirl!

We all know how products seem to fall to the back of the cabinet, never to be seen again.  Try installing a turntable or lazy Susan so that you have easy access to all the items you need.

This is a great way to store cleaning supplies, toiletries, or grooming products.  You can find turntables with two tiers so that you can eliminate any wasted space.

Containers

Think glass vases, mason jars, or colored bottles.  With glass, you can combine beauty and function by storing your beauty products and supplies openly.

Cotton balls, swabs, and makeup brushes look beautiful and are close at hand when you need them.  Baskets can cover up a lot of clutter and can look stylish at the same time.

To select a basket, find the size and style that you need and have fun.  They come in a wide variety of shapes and colors and are made of everything from wood to bamboo to metal.

Get creative with metal or wooden containers.  Find retro or antique pieces such as crates, trays, or buckets.  These containers will add to a natural, rustic, or farmhouse style and conceal and store many items easily.

Double Duty

Just because the original use was a bookshelf or a kitchen cart, does not mean that it cannot be used in the bathroom for needed storage.  Just be sure that it complements the style of the bathroom.

Some other ideas might be tissue rolls in a large flowerpot, an antique ladder for towels,  or a galvanized bucket for a trash can.
Silverware organizers work great for drawers to organize grooming products such as combs, barrettes, and brushes.

You don't have to sacrifice storage for style, even in a small bathroom.  Are you ready to remodel your bathroom?  Contact us today to get started!
